We are home

After 2 weeks I have finally collected all the pieces and slept away the jetlag. Which is btw easier to handle when you travel to west. And why it seems like little kids do not suffer from jetlag..At least not in my family. 07.00 full on, no break. Well, this is also a good thing, doesn´t leave a change for mom to feel sorry for herself and sleep too much or too late.

Our final weeks went by fast in Gold Coast. Me, little sister and little Vilja left 4 days earlier to Newcastle to meet Iita´s host family and to see Newcastle a bit. Unfortunately the Australian winter showed us it´s true power and it rained the whole time there. We did manage to have a great dinner with the Laings, though, and it kind of saved the trip there. Rest of the time we just watched Giggle and Hoot and tried to kill time until the last days to Sydney.

We thought that the rain would be over by the time we arrive to Sydney, but oh how wrong we were.
The dodgy hostel was quite near Kings Cross station and walking there went fine. Iita took look at the room and said; well, this is quite a hole. Room was clean and basic, but nothing much more. We decided to spend as little time there as possible, which turned out to be the wrong decision. We spend the evening walking to Sydney Tower and paying too see the view (or escape the rain). By the time we were walking back to the hostel, the heaviest rain surprised us. We had only 2 umbrellas, so as a dedicating  mother I gave Vilja my umbrella and pushed the pram in the rain. The good thing was that we didnt have to wait for the sleep...

Next day wasnt much better´weatherwise, luckily the apartment Keijo had rented for us was. We spend the day packing and soaking in the jakuzi. Next day we went meet Petri and Karen for the last time and had a lovely brunch at their place. Time fly and soon it was time to say good bye to this lovely couple and their boys. I hope to meet them in Finland!

Last day turned out to be hot and sunny, which felt like a heaven after the week of rain. We took a ferry to city center and enjoyed the sun, eating ice cream and watching people. Just a lazy, sunny day. I was a bit sad we didnt realize the ferry connections during our first visit in Sydney! What a perfect view of the city; the bridge and Operahouse!! Well, until the next time..
We were just happy that we were able to say goodbye in a sunny weather and end our time in the Oz for a perfect day.

Too soon we had go back to the hotel and finish packing, flight to Singapore was due at 7.30 am the next day.The fligh went perfectly, my little girl has grown to be a quite a traveler! She was quite happy playing with other kids and with her toys and taking a nap when tired. We arrived to Singapore well rested. In Singapore we reserved 2 bungalows in Bintan Island, which belongs to Indonesia and is an hour ferryride away. After traveling only in EU for years, it was quite frustrating taking always the "slow line" and hassling with visas and registration forms.

Our little bungalow turned out to be quite perfect place to end our journey. The area was a resort with a 5 star hotel, including entry to the hotel pool area. +30, warm water and a paradise on earth. We just swam and rested and enjoyed. 4 days would probably be the max time I´d enjoy being in an artificial resort, but this was much needed and much appreciated holiday inside a holiday. And Vilja enjoyed. She loved every minute by the pool- She was very mad each morning, when she had to eat breakfast first and walk past at least 3 placed good for swimming in her eyes.

After 4 days in paradise it was time to go back to Finland. We had a night flight and it went also very well. Not a single tantrum! She fell asleep right after the take off and we all had a good night sleep.
At 6.30 local time we enter the most beautiful Finnish summer morning. How I had missed summer!! How I had missed Niila!! And how I had missed strawberries!!

Now we were home. And new life is waiting in August.
